Roscomare Elementary School Playground and Campus Exterior Upgrades Project

The Roscomare Elementary School Playground and Campus Exterior Upgrades Project will replace approximately 80,000 square feet of aging pavement in the main and kindergarten playgrounds with new surfacing, accompanied by solar reflective coating to reduce heat retention. The scope includes full replacement of playground equipment, installation of an outdoor learning environment, extensive greening and landscaping across the campus, new privacy fencing, and exterior painting of buildings where necessary. Infrastructure improvements are also part of the project, featuring upgrades to the trash enclosure, sanitary sewer systems, storm drainage, and accessibility features to ensure compliance with modern standards. The total budget of $12,201,794 was approved by the Los Angeles Unified School District Board of Education on January 14, 2025, and all work will adhere to state, federal, and local regulations as well as LAUSD’s updated Standard Conditions of Approval adopted in December 2023, ensuring alignment with design guidelines and environmental best practices. The project directly benefits Roscomare Elementary’s students, faculty, staff, families, and school supporters, while also opening the upgraded playground to the broader community under the Civic Center Act. The initiative enhances safety, durability, and usability of the campus grounds while promoting environmental sustainability and inclusive access.
