Routine Maintenance for the Calendar Year 2026

The American River Flood Control District has established a program for routine maintenance of flood control facilities for the calendar year 2026 in Sacramento, California. This initiative focuses on the operation, repair, and minor alteration of existing flood control assets to protect residents, infrastructure, and habitats in the Sacramento metropolitan area. The scope of work includes mowing, vegetation pruning, the removal of fallen or hazardous trees, road grading, minor earthwork repairs, and the placement of rock revetment. These activities are designed to meet applicable legal standards and ensure the integrity of the levee systems. The project covers several key locations, including the north and south levees of the American River and Arcade Creek, the Robla South Levee, the Dry Creek North Levee, the Steelhead Creek East Levee, the Magpie Creek Diversion Channel, and four miles of the Sacramento River East Levee. This program is managed by the District, which oversees assets turned over from the federal Sacramento River Flood Control Project as well as other levees under contract with the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency. On January 16, 2026, the District adopted Resolution 2026-2, authorizing a Notice of Exemption under the California Environmental Quality Act, confirming that these maintenance activities will not have significant adverse environmental effects.
