This contract establishes a definitive agreement between the USGS Energy Resources Program and S/P Global to provide critical data and software necessary for assessing oil and gas resources. The contract grants access to extensive subsurface data libraries covering oil and gas well histories and production records across the United States, Canada, and other international locations, excluding the US and Canada in the global set. These datasets feature detailed geologic information such as formation depths, petrophysical properties, production volumes, and drilling histories. USGS geoscientists utilize this information for constructing geologic models essential to evaluating undiscovered energy resources. Additionally, the contract includes licenses for specialized software platforms—Petra, Kingdom, and Quetor—tailored to analyze and integrate these complex datasets. This comprehensive data and software access is vital for the USGS to fulfill mandates under various executive and secretary orders aimed at promoting American energy dominance. The contract, associated with NAICS code 423430, is designated as other than small business and is headquartered in Denver, with Sean Jones serving as the primary point of contact. This agreement underscores the strategic importance of reliable subsurface data and analytical tools for advancing the nation’s energy resource assessments.

S/P Global Definitive Contract Multiple projects within the USGS Energy Resources Program rely upon data and software provided by S/P Global. This Definitive Contract includes access to data libraries including US Oil and Gas Well History and Production; Canada Well History and Production; and World - excluding US and Canada Oil and Gas History and Production; that contain vast subsurface information e.g.; depths to geologic formation tops; petrophysical characteristics; volumes of oil produced from a well; drilling and casing history from domestic and international oil and gas wells and oil and gas production histories. These data are the primary source of information for USGS undiscovered oil and gas assessments. USGS geoscientists use these data to construct geologic models that form the basis for all USGS undiscovered energy resource assessments. The Definitive Contract also includes licenses to software Petra; Kingdom; and Quetor specifically designed to analyze; integrate; and model the subsurface data contained within these data libraries. This Definitive Contract is critical for the USGS to continue working to support Executive and Secretary’s Orders EO 14153; EO14154; EO14156; SO3417; SO3418; SO3422 focused on achieving American energy dominance.
