Santee Community Center

The City of Santee is overseeing the construction of a two-story, 12,500 square foot community center located at 10129 River Walk Drive on a 3.57-acre portion of a 5.2-acre parcel. The facility will feature an event center, multipurpose rooms, two covered patios, a service kitchen, food service truck parking, and four-tier amphitheater seating. Beyond its role as a community hub, the building is designed to serve as the city's backup Emergency Operation Center. Site improvements include the installation of 29,360 square feet of landscaping and irrigation, six biofiltration basins, an upgraded trash enclosure, and a new joint use parking lot. The project is subject to strict environmental and regulatory compliance measures under CEQA and the Mitigation Monitoring and Reporting Program. Key requirements include the submission of a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, the use of California Air Resources Board-certified Tier 4 Final engines for diesel equipment 75-horsepower or greater, and the implementation of specific noise and dust control measures. The contractor must employ a qualified project biologist to monitor ground-disturbing activities and provide environmental awareness training to personnel. Additionally, the contract mandates strict protocols for the protection of biological resources, the management of cultural and archaeological finds, and the maintenance of retained city trees by a certified arborist.
