The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) has executed Lake and Streambed Alteration Agreement (EPIMS-SCR-59398-R3), pursuant to Fish and Game Code section 1602, the project Applicant, Center for Natural Lands Management, as represented by Cathy Little.
The Seascape Uplands Preserve, managed by the Center for Natural Lands Management since 1997 under a Habitat Conservation Plan, supports breeding habitat for the endangered Santa Cruz Long-toed salamander (SCLTS) within multiple ponds (on-stream reservoirs). The Project will conduct vegetation management activities needed to enhance conditions in Pond 1 for SCLTS breeding through hand removal and targeted herbicide treatment of California bulrush removal (~8,200 sq ft), willow removal (~5,700 sq ft), vegetation thinning (~1,300 sq ft), and black locust tree removal (up to 12 trees). The Project does not require use of heavy equipment or road construction. A small staging area (500 sq ft) will support chainsaw refueling, herbicide mixing, and storage. Cleared material will be stockpiled in a 650 sq ft designated area.
