Support of Program Objectives: ODHL provides testing for infectious disease surveillance and epidemiological investigations, and preparedness/bioterrorism incidents. This purchase will the ODHL to identify persons who have active Tuberculosis, screen persons who have been in contact with TB patients and screen high-risk populations to detect persons who are infected with TB. Justification for purchase: Without adequate testing supplies the ODH Lab would not be in compliance with ORC 3701.22. wo microscopes are necessary for TB testing. Microscopy is the easiest and most rapid procedure to detect acid-fast bacilli (Mycobacterium). Current microscopes need to be upgraded/replaced.
