Silver Star Park FM Operational Treatment - TU2

BC Parks is seeking experienced contractors to perform fuel management treatments in Treatment Unit 2 of Silver Star Park, adjacent to the Silver Star Mountain Resort boundary. The aim of this project is to mitigate wildfire risks to nearby recreation areas and residential zones while enhancing public safety and forest resilience. Covering approximately 7.8 hectares with steep terrain, the work involves manual methods including understory thinning, pruning to remove ladder fuels, and the reduction of surface fuels through piling and controlled burning. Given the site's challenging slopes of up to 65%, dense vegetation, and proximity to trails and private properties, contractors must demonstrate strong safety capabilities and sensitivity to working in high-use recreational and environmentally sensitive areas. The project requires strict adherence to environmental protection measures such as maintaining riparian buffers and observing wildlife timing restrictions, alongside following detailed treatment prescriptions. The solicitation, issued by the Ministry of Environment and Parks as part of the Government of Canada, opened on June 3, 2026, with a response deadline of July 1, 2026.
