AMCAL proposes to perform soil testing studies and sample collecting at 21 locations within Caltrans right-of-way along State Route (SR-)34, between Post Mile (PM) 15.97 and PM 16.26, as well as to perform temporary traffic control activities in the City of Somis, Ventura County. The work will include soil investigations using hand-auger borings for collection of soil samples for analyses of Title 22 metals, organochlorine pesticides, Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons, Volatile Organic Compounds, and pH. Work at the 21 locations will be as follows: Locations 1 through 11, beginning approximately 600 feet northeast of Upland Road and extending approximately 1,465 feet along the northern shoulder of SR-34 within proposed areas of the highway. Locations 12 through 21 begin approximately 600 feet east of the intersection of Upland Road and extending approximately 1,465-feet along the southern shoulder of SR-34 within the proposed areas of highway widening. Excavation will have a maximum depth of 18 inches and a maximum width of five (5) inches. No public utilities will be relocated, and no new right-of-way will be acquired for the project.
