The US Army Corps of Engineers, Savannah District, is hosting an Industry Day on July 10, 2006, at the Comfort Inn near Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, to gather industry input for the development of the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the Advanced Metal Finishing Facility project scheduled for FY07. The event will commence at 9:00 AM with registration starting at 8:00 AM. This project involves designing and constructing a medium-bay, single-story building encompassing approximately 9,113 square meters, including a partial basement designed for chemical containment and ventilation. The facility will feature offices, covered loading docks, and all necessary utilities, replacing an existing facility of about 4,460 square meters. Key project elements include installing modern electroplating process equipment to improve plating techniques, productivity, pollution control, and compliance with evolving environmental regulations, thereby enhancing Robins AFB’s capabilities to handle current and future workloads with state-of-the-art modular plating lines. The government will award a single design-build contract using a two-step procedure under FAR subpart 36.3. KZF Design Inc., based in Cincinnati, Ohio, has been selected to develop the RFP and is seeking detailed technical input on advanced aerospace metal finishing equipment, including wet and dry processes, vat solution treatment, and wastewater recycling systems. Industry participants are encouraged to review the provided materials and submit questions or information on the supplied form before the meeting or by mail no later than July 5, 2006. Personal meetings with the design team are not available, so all submissions will be collected at the start of the Industry Day. This collaborative exchange aims to ensure the facility and its equipment are optimized for efficiency and effectiveness in meeting both operational and environmental standards.
