Southwestern Community College HVAC Renovation Project – Founders Building

Southwestern Community College is soliciting Statements of Qualifications from licensed North Carolina engineering design firms to provide professional design and contract administration services for an HVAC system renovation at the Founders Building on the Sylva, NC campus. The project involves a two-story, 31,000 square foot facility with a second-floor mechanical room. The selected firm will be responsible for a comprehensive scope of work including an existing condition assessment, schematic design, creation of construction documents, assistance during the contractor bidding phase, and construction administration through project closeout. Interested firms must be properly licensed to practice architecture, engineering, or landscape architecture in the State of North Carolina. Proposals must be submitted as three hard copies consisting of a Letter of Interest, limited to ten single-sided or five double-sided pages, and three copies of Standard Form 254. Submissions must be 8.5 by 11 inch pages stapled in the upper left-hand corner, with binders, tabs, and clips prohibited; email and fax submissions are not accepted. The response deadline is October 27, 2026, at 8:00 PM. The selection committee will evaluate firms based on specialized expertise, past performance on similar projects, staff adequacy, current workload, proposed design approach, and experience with project costs and schedules. Additional evaluation factors include construction administration capabilities, familiarity with the project location, and a record of successfully completed projects without major legal or technical issues.
