The USDA Forest Service, Willamette National Forest, has awarded a sole source contract for office furniture and reconfiguration services at the Springfield Interagency Office. This contract, issued to Herman Miller, Inc. through dealer Office World Inc., was justified under federal regulations that allow for sole source procurement when only one responsible source can meet agency requirements. The Springfield Interagency Office houses multiple tenants including the Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, and military branches in a building owned by the Oregon Military Department. The office reconfiguration involves three Forest Service departments needing compatible modular furniture to match the existing setup originally procured by OMD during the building’s construction in 2008-2009. The contract covers the purchase of new office furniture, design, and installation services, addressing the shortfall of excess furniture needed to complete the reconfiguration. The estimated date for delivery and installation is November 30, 2012. The contract, identified by award number AG-04R4-P-12-0082 and dated September 28, 2012, is managed under NAICS code 337214 (office furniture manufacturing) with performance set in Springfield, Oregon. Key contacts for the contract include Contract Specialist Laurie J. Abernathy and Eric Oldenkamp, with the agency overseeing the effort being the Willamette National Forest, part of the Department of Agriculture.

The USDA Forest Service, Willamette National Forest, has awarded a sole source contract for the Springfield Interagency Office - Office Furniture and Reconfiguration through GSA contractor Herman Miller, Inc., c/o Office World Inc. (dealer). This action is taken pursuant to 41 U.S.C. 253(c)(1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source will satisfy the agency requirements, and pursuant to 41 U.S.C.253(j) as implemented by FAR 6.305, availability of the justification. The Springfield Interagency Office (SIO) tenants include the Forest Service, BLM, and three branches of the military in a building owned by Oregon Military Department (OMD). In addition to construction of the building in 2008-2009, OMD initiated the purchase of the existing modular furniture, which is consistent throughout the building for all tenants. There are three departments within the Forest Service that require an office reconfiguration and the purchase of some furniture. The Forest Service has an inventory of excess furniture; however, not enough to complete reconfiguring the office for this move. The office modular furniture to be purchased needs to match and be compatible with the existing furniture. The purchase order includes the purchase of some office furniture, design, and installation. Estimated delivery and installation is November 30, 2012. The award number assigned to this effort is AG-04R4-P-12-0082, dated September 28, 2012.
