Stevens Creek Nature Trail Revitalization Project

The Stevens Creek Nature Trail Revitalization Project, managed by the Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District, involves the installation of amenities within the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve in California. The scope of work includes replacing fourteen weathered and faded interpretive panels along the Stevens Creek Nature Trail Loop and installing one new picnic table at the junction of Canyon Trail and the Stevens Creek Nature Trail. Each interpretive panel will require a new post installed in a hole 28 inches deep and 8 inches in diameter, backfilled with gravel and concrete, while the picnic table will be secured using standard footings. The project is designed to minimize environmental impact, with no major trenching, soil disturbance, or extensive vegetation clearing anticipated, although some branch trimming may occur for installation and sightline maintenance. Six of the interpretive panels are located within the riparian zone of Stevens Creek and must be placed outside the ordinary high-water mark. This project has been certified as categorically exempt from the California Environmental Quality Act under Sections 15301 and 15304.
