Stevens Creek Nature Trail Revitalization Project

The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District is undertaking the Stevens Creek Nature Trail Revitalization Project to replace 14 aging interpretive sign panels along the Stevens Creek Nature Trail Loop in the Monte Bello Open Space Preserve and install one new picnic table at the junction of Canyon Trail and Stevens Creek Nature Trail. All new interpretive panels will be mounted on newly installed posts set into 28-inch-deep, 8-inch-diameter holes backfilled with gravel and concrete, while the picnic table will be secured with standard footings requiring minimal excavation. The work is designed to avoid significant soil disturbance, major vegetation clearing, or trail expansion, with only limited branch trimming permitted to maintain sightlines. Six of the panel locations lie within the riparian zone of Stevens Creek but are positioned outside the ordinary high-water mark to comply with environmental protections. The project qualifies for categorical exemptions under CEQA Sections 15301 and 15304, reflecting its minor impact on land and use of existing facilities. No federal procurement clauses, contracting officer details, or invoice systems are specified, as the initiative is managed under state and local environmental compliance procedures. The project’s execution and acceptance are anticipated on-site at the preserve, with no formal delivery schedule, contract value, or pricing structure documented, and submission of environmental documentation occurred via physical filing with the Santa Clara County Clerk by October 15, 2025.
