SJFD Canal Liner Repairs and Rehabilitation, Coastal Branch

The Department of Water Resources is engaging a contractor for the SJFD Canal Liner Repairs and Rehabilitation project on the Coastal Branch of the California Aqueduct, located within Kings and Kern counties. This project consists of routine maintenance activities and is classified as exempt under Categorical Exemption Class 1, Section 15301(b), as the work is expected to have no environmental impacts. All activities will be performed within the DWR right-of-way, with staging and access restricted to existing roadways and turnouts adjacent to the aqueducts. The scope of work includes repairing or replacing cracked and buckled concrete panels, filling voids and repairing erosions, and installing new water stops, concrete panels, and joint sealants. Specific technical requirements involve the use of a pump truck to inject high-pressure grout into voids located on the waterside of embankment roadways. Additionally, the contractor is responsible for hauling all spoils offsite to an approved disposal location. The project is managed by the Division of Operations and Maintenance, with administrative oversight provided by the Environmental Regulatory Compliance Section.
