DWR staff will be performing discharge line inspections during the 2025 coastal outage. The vault hatches downstream of Devils Den Pumping Plant (DEPP), Bluestone Pumping Plant (BLPP), and Polonio Pass Pumping Plant (POPP) will be removed to provide ventilation during the discharge line inspections. A crane is required to remove the hatches. At DEPP, a metal plate will be placed on top of a ditch to create an access route to the vault. At BLPP and POPP, vehicles will drive off road to reach the vaults. After inspections are completed, a crane will be used to reinstall the vault hatches. This work is necessary to safely inspect and maintain the discharge line and to continue proving water to San Luis Obispo County.
