Supply and Delivery of Firefighter’s Turnout Gear

The City of Saskatoon has issued Request for Proposals 26-0317 for a single legal entity to supply and deliver approximately 60 sets of firefighter turnout gear, consisting of coats and pants, annually for the Saskatoon Fire Department. The intended contract term is three years, with options to renew for two additional one-year periods. Deliveries are to be made to 421 Central Avenue, Saskatoon, with a required turnaround of four weeks for new recruits and twelve weeks for standard orders. All gear must comply with NFPA 1970 (2025 Edition) and include specific labeling, bar-coding for tracking, a user information guide, and a limited lifetime warranty. Proposals are due by October 5, 2026, and will be evaluated based on pricing (45%), mobility and comfort samples (20%), specification requirements (10%), and vendor support and warranty (10%). Pre-conditions for award include providing a Certificate of Compliance for NFPA 1970, ISO 9001 certification, and proof of commercial general liability insurance of at least 5 million dollars per occurrence. Additionally, the contract mandates Indigenous participation, requiring proponents to report on Indigenous person hours and ownership. The successful supplier must adhere to strict indemnity and confidentiality requirements and comply with LAFOIP regulations.
