Supply, Installation, and Commissioning of a Stationary Electric Shredder

The City of Saskatoon is seeking a single legal entity for the supply, installation, and commissioning of a turnkey stationary electric shredder system for its new 40,000-tonne Organics Processing Facility. The shredder will be installed in the facility's Receiving Building and must be capable of a minimum throughput of 50 tonnes per hour. Key technical requirements include compatibility with 600 V 3-phase 60 Hz electrical service, CSA or cUL certification, and the ability to operate continuously in ambient temperatures ranging from -20°C to 30°C. The scope of work encompasses the delivery of the shredder, hopper, cutting and drive systems, controls, and ferrous metal separation, as well as electrical integration, a minimum of two days of commissioning, and three days of operator and maintenance training. The procurement is structured as a lump sum contract with an optional line item for Factory Acceptance Testing. Proposals are due by October 5, 2026, and will be evaluated based on pricing (40%), technical specifications (30%), experience and qualifications (15%), and product support and service capabilities (15%). The successful supplier must coordinate delivery and installation between June and August 2027 to align with the overall facility commissioning target of August 2027. Final acceptance is contingent upon successful commissioning and the provision of comprehensive documentation, including test reports, O&M manuals, and training records. All goods are to be delivered F.O.B. Destination, Freight Prepaid.
