Swiss Lithoclast Ultrasound

The VA Medical Center in West Palm Beach, Florida, plans to enter into a sole source contract with Microvasive Endoscopy, a division of Boston Scientific located in Watertown, MA, for the procurement of a Swiss Lithoclast Ultrasound system and its associated equipment and accessories. This procurement includes the Lithoclast Ultra Console, foot pedal, stone catcher holder, compressed air tube, power cord, spare fuses, as well as both the Lithoclast Ultra Ultrasound Handpiece Kit and the Pneumatic Handpiece Kit. The contract negotiation is authorized under FAR Part 6.302-1(c), which allows for non-competitive contracting when only one source is available. Interested vendors may express their interest and demonstrate their capabilities in writing to the Contracting Officer by December 31, 2002, with fax submissions accepted. While all qualified submissions will be considered, if no responses are received by June 31, 2002, the VA will proceed directly with negotiations with Microvasive Endoscopy. This process ensures that alternative sources have an opportunity to compete, but the primary intent is to secure this specialized equipment from the identified sole source.
