The Synthetic Training Environment (STE) Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Program Office for Simulation, Training and Instrumentation aimed to gather insights from industry and academia regarding the development and architecture of a viable STE. The solicitation, posted on October 29, 2015, sought to evaluate current and future technologies and specialized capabilities relevant to synthetic training environments. This effort is part of a market research initiative by PEO STRI to shape and inform the future STE program's direction. Multiple North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes were used to cover a broad range of potential contributors, without designating an official NAICS code exclusively for STE, thus encouraging diverse industry participation. This RFI report, posted on May 11, 2016, by the Department of Defense at their Orlando, Florida office, provides feedback to respondents but does not request further responses at this time. The contracting officer overseeing the effort is Duane St. Peter, who can be contacted for more information. The process reflects an ongoing effort to engage with the industry, requesting additional information and collaboration through future announcements, highlighting the evolving nature of the STE program and its reliance on collaborative input to establish the best technology solutions for synthetic training environments.
