Town of Fort Jones Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades Project

The Town of Fort Jones is implementing the Wastewater Treatment Facility Upgrades Project in Siskiyou County, California. The project involves decommissioning the existing wastewater treatment facility and constructing a new facility on a 17.5-acre site located approximately 1,500 feet east of the current location. The project site is situated at the western edge of Fort Jones, east of the confluence of Moffett Creek and the Scott River, encompassing Assessor Parcel Numbers 024-040-080, 024-030-490, 055-241-010, and 055-241-020, with access provided via Scott River Road from Serpa Lane. The scope of work includes the construction of a new facility featuring influent headworks, a screening station, aeration, percolation/evaporation, and storage ponds, as well as an effluent pump, associated buildings, perimeter fencing, and ancillary infrastructure. The project is designed to address treatment deficiencies and ensure compliance with Waste Discharge Requirements established by the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, specifically regarding biochemical oxygen demand, total suspended solids, and settleable solids. Environmental review under CEQA resulted in a Mitigated Negative Declaration, with the Fort Jones Planning Commission approving the project on August 24, 2026.
