Two 2.3K Mechanical Cryocooler Systems

The Department of Commerce, National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), is conducting market research through a Sources Sought announcement to identify potential vendors capable of providing two complete mechanical cryocooler systems designed to cool electronics and optics to 2.3K or colder, with a minimum cooling power of 0.1W at 4.2K. Each system must include a small, 120VAC-powered, air-cooled compressor, flexible helium lines approximately 10 feet in length, and a coldhead that conforms exactly to the dimensional specifications of the standard Sumitomo RDK-101DL model to ensure compatibility with NIST-designed and assembled cryostats. The intended place of performance is Boulder, Colorado. This announcement is not a solicitation for quotes or proposals; no contracts will be awarded based on responses, and the government will not compensate respondents for their submissions. Interested parties must submit a capability statement of four pages or less, containing the name of the company providing and manufacturing the product, country of origin, technical data sheets or examples demonstrating compliance with specification requirements, typical lead time post-order, and any other pertinent information. Proprietary information must be clearly marked, and generic sales brochures or marketing materials will not be considered. The government is evaluating whether a small business set-aside is appropriate and is seeking information to inform future acquisition strategy.
