AI Contract Overview
The U.S. Department of Defense, through DLA Aviation, intends to add eight National Stock Numbers (NSNs) from Federal Supply Classes 2925 and 6150 to the existing sole source contract SPE4A5-20-D-0025 awarded to Unison Industries, identified by CAGE code 59501. These items, which include exciter assemblies, ignition leads, cable assemblies, conduits, rotor generators, and electrical leads, are designated as sole source due to their original equipment manufacturer specification and critical application in military systems, with one item labeled as a Critical Safety Item for the Air Force. The solicitation, issued under SPE4AX-26-R-UN01 and posted on May 22, 2026, with a response deadline of June 12, 2026, is structured as a presolicitation to allow non-OEM sources and surplus dealers an opportunity to compete, although the government remains committed to a sole source award to Unison under FAR 6.302-1 unless compelling evidence demonstrates otherwise. Interested non-OEM respondents must submit a letter of interest to the contracting officer prior to the deadline, providing documentation of their ability to meet contract performance requirements, detailing the available quantity of each item, and offering pricing information. The government reserves the right to adjust its acquisition approach should the procurement of surplus inventory or newly manufactured units prove more advantageous. All deliveries are to be performed in Richmond, Virginia, and the items are associated with an annual demand totaling 65 units across the eight NSNs, though the total contract value has not been disclosed. The procurement falls under NAICS code 336412, reflecting its alignment with aircraft engine and engine parts manufacturing, and all submissions must be directed to the primary point of contact, Christopher Hutnan, with secondary support provided by Colin L. Silver.

Full Description
This agency proposes to ADD multiple NSNs from FSC 2925 and 6150 to an existing long-term strategic/sole source contract. A total of eight (8) National Stock Numbers (NSNs) is currently targeted for this contract effort. The NSNs and associated Part Numbers are listed in the attachment. These items have been identified as sole source. The proposed action is intended to be awarded on a sole source basis to Unison at CAGE 59501. The proposed items are intended for addition to existing sole source contract SPE4A5-20-D- 0025 under award to Unison, CAGE 59501 (IAW FAR 6.302-1).
It is the Government's intent to use a letter solicitation format to the sole source Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM); therefore, if any non-OEM source is interested in any of the NSNs, please notify the Contracting Officer prior to the synopsis closing date. Surplus dealers are also invited to respond to this synopsis.
Responses to this announcement from other than the OEM should identify items of interest and include evidence of ability to supply the items for the contract period as identified. In addition, respondents should identify the quantity available and price. A copy of the letter of interest should be forwarded to the contracting officer identified herein. The Government may alter the acquisition strategy if purchase of existing surplus or newly-manufactured inventory is in the best interest of the Government.
