Verde K-8 Safe Routes to School Non-Infrastructure

The Verde K-8 Safe Routes to School Non-Infrastructure project, identified by WO#4514 and CP#25-33, is a community-focused initiative managed by Contra Costa County. Unlike traditional infrastructure projects, this contract focuses exclusively on educational programming, community engagement, and outreach to promote safe walking and biking activities for students and residents near Market Avenue and the intersection of Giaramita Street and Verde Avenue. The program will be implemented by the Building Healthy Communities Program at Contra Costa Health and is scheduled to begin in 2026, spanning a four-year performance period. The scope of work includes a diverse range of activities such as traffic safety campaigns, community events, pop-up demonstrations, walking field trips, and the establishment of a transportation club. Additional deliverables include technical support, the creation of maps, and the organization of a walking school bus to encourage active modes of transportation.
