Full Description
The Missisquoi NWR requires its visitor¿s center and staff parking lot asphalt surface to be maintained to prevent degradation and improve striping visibility.
The ~1.0 acre asphalt parking lot was created when the new refuge office and visitor's center was built in 2006. Maintenance was completed in 2019. Since then, cold winters with freeze-thaw conditions and regular wear and tear have created cracks in the asphalt surface and worn away the parking lot striping on the surface. To prevent continued degradation the refuge requires the asphalt to be sealed, cracks filled and striping reapplied.
The work to be completed will be to the ~1.0 acre visitor's center and refuge staff parking lot. The following work will be accomplished:
1. Clean and prepare the entire asphalt surface to be seal coated.
2. Crack fill any cracks as needed with hot rubberized crack filler.
3. Apply one coat of commercial grade asphalt sealer to the entire asphalt surface.
4. Re-stripe all paring areas to match existing layout.
5. Provide cones, sawhorses or other traffic management supplies to direct visitor's to separate parking area at refuge shop facility
