The Department of National Defence (DND), Director of Aerospace Equipment Program Management (Maritime) (DAEPM(M)) has a requirement to refurbish 21 Self Locating Datum Marker Buoys (iSLDMBs), which are free drifting electronic buoys used to track surface ocean currents and that report their position in near real time using world-wide satellite communication. The iSLDMB reservicing includes the following procedures: • replaced battery packs and water-soluble tape • include addition of battery pack securement • reinforcement of floatation arms • firmware upgrades and relabelling of new expiry dates and repackaging. All buoys are retested for satellite connectivity and transmission verification. The refurbishment of 21 iSLDMBs to be delivered no later than 31st March 2026.
