AI Contract Overview
The Department of Commerce is seeking a provider for weather monitoring systems to support the Institute for Telecommunication Sciences in their troposcatter measurement research. This project requires the deployment of local weather stations at transmit and receive locations, as well as along the signal path, to record critical atmospheric parameters including wind speed, humidity, and temperature. These measurements are essential for analyzing signal power fluctuations and supporting the technical foundation of spectrum management and policy development for the National Telecommunications and Information Administration. This opportunity, identified by solicitation number RFQ-26-00311, is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 541715. The place of performance is located in Boulder, Colorado. Full Description
The Institute for Telecommunication Sciences (ITS) provides research and development support for theNational Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) by performing basic research inradio science that provides the technical foundation for NTIA’s policy development and spectrummanagement activities, as well as solves telecommunications challenges for other Federal agencies, stateand local Governments, private corporations and associations, and international organizations.
ITS has a troposcatter measurement system and is deployed for long durations and is required to record very sensitive fluctuations in received signal power resultant from changes in the atmospheric channel between the transmitter and receiver. The influence of the atmosphere and weather patterns is very important to this work. Local weather stations at the transmit, receive and along the path to record relevant parameters such as wind speed, humidity, temperature, etc are critical for the success of this effort.
