Winter Road Sand

The Town of Williamstown Department of Public Works is seeking sealed bids for the procurement and delivery of up to 2,500 tons of winter road sand for the performance period of November 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Bids must be submitted on a unit basis per ton, including delivery to the town storage site at 675 Simonds Road, Williamstown, MA. The town reserves the right to order additional quantities at the bid unit price and will award the contract to the bidder considered to be in the best interest of the town. To be eligible, the sand must be clean, hard, and sharp, adhering to specific sieve requirements: 100% passing the 1/2 inch sieve, 60-90% passing the #4 sieve, 40-60% passing the #30 sieve, 15-30% passing the #40 sieve, and 0-3% passing the #200 sieve. The successful contractor must provide a representative sample and may be required to furnish a sieve analysis to certify quality compliance. Additionally, the contractor must guarantee that materials are delivered within 36 hours of an order being placed. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked for the Department of Public Works and delivered or mailed to 675 Simonds Road, Williamstown, MA, by 1:00 PM on September 28, 2026.
