The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - New England District is preparing to solicit bids for the replacement of sixteen wire ropes used to hoist the four tainter gates at Woonsocket Falls Dam in Woonsocket, Rhode Island. This project arises after the failure of the wire rope on the easternmost gate in early May, although the other ropes remain intact. The work will be carried out sequentially, with one gate's wire ropes fully replaced and tested before moving on to the next. The dam's pool level can be lowered most of the year, except during periods of high water flow, with historically lower flows from July to November, providing an optimal window for the repairs. The total project cost is estimated between $100,000 and $250,000, and all tasks must comply with the provided Statement of Work. This procurement is exclusively set aside for small businesses under the NAICS code 238290, with a size standard of $22 million. Interested offerors must have an active registration on the SAM.gov website at the time of submission to be considered responsive. The solicitation documents and submission instructions will be available online only on or around September 13, 2023, and will not be distributed via phone, mail, or fax. The contracting office is located in Concord, Massachusetts, and Alicia LaCrosse is the designated point of contact for inquiries. This notice is a pre-solicitation and does not represent a request for quotes at this time.
