The Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) has a requirement to conduct stock assessment activities for sockeye salmon at Wuikinuxv Lake in fall 2025. The Assessment Program contract includes several key components, which are: Preparatory planning and training, Field operations, Escapement estimation and reporting; and Camp operations and maintenance. Over the last decade, Wuikinuxv First Nation has collaboratively worked with DFO to complete the assessment program in Wuikinuxv Lake (through alternative funding sources to contract). The following is a Statement of Work (SOW) for the 2025 Wuikinuxv Lake CSI Assessment Program based out of the Cinici (Genesee) Field camp maintained by the Government of Canada. Any interested supplier must demonstrate by way of a statement of capabilities that it meets the following requirements: 1 Working knowledge of the region (Wuikinuxv Lake—Wuikinuxv First Nation staff meet this requirement and the village is the nearest settlement by many hours in proximity), as well as working knowledge of acquiring human resources and materials to a very remote location 2 Knowledge of the historical context of the work to be completed 3 Existing knowledge and experience on following techniques: a) Salmon survey procedures (by foot and helicopter) b) Field survey planning and scheduling c) Interpreting weather and lake level forecasts d) Field survey documentation and escapement reporting e) Data quality assurance and quality control; and f) Biological sampling and data collection. 4 Existing knowledge, experience, and training on required safety for this type of work, including: a) Non-enforcement firearms (if carrying firearms during field activities) b) Bear awareness and working around wildlife in remote locations c) Swiftwater Rescue Training and creekwalking in swiftwater environments d) Wilderness First Aid and/or Level 1 First Aid with Transport Endorsement e) Jet boating in switftwater environments
