WWTP Recycled Water Reservoir CEQA Project

The City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department is overseeing the construction of a 2.75 million gallon recycled water reservoir and pump station. The project is located at the City's Wastewater Treatment Facility at 1950 Nevada Street, specifically on an empty lot at the southeast corner of Mills Street and Nevada Street. The primary objective of this infrastructure project is to increase the city's capacity to treat and store water during wet periods for distribution during dry periods to mitigate the effects of long-term drought. The project is governed by the California Environmental Quality Act, with a Notice of Determination issued on November 18, 2025, confirming that the project will not have a significant environmental effect. Key compliance requirements include the implementation of cultural and paleontological mitigation plans, requiring the use of qualified archaeologists and paleontologists to monitor for unanticipated discoveries. Work must immediately cease within 60 feet of any discovery of cultural resources or human remains. The project schedule includes site preparation and grinding beginning in February 2026, with building construction following.
