WWTP Recycled Water Reservoir CEQA Project

The City of Redlands Municipal Utilities and Engineering Department is overseeing the construction of a 2.75 million gallon recycled water reservoir and pump station. The project is located at the City's Wastewater Treatment Facility at 1950 Nevada Street, specifically on an empty lot at the southeast corner of Mills Street and Nevada Street. The primary objective of this infrastructure expansion is to increase the city's capacity to treat and store water during wet periods for distribution during dry periods to mitigate the effects of long-term drought. The project has undergone a comprehensive environmental review process in compliance with the California Environmental Quality Act, resulting in a Mitigated Negative Declaration and a Notice of Determination dated November 18, 2025, confirming that the project will not have a significant environmental effect. Key requirements include strict adherence to cultural and paleontological resource management, requiring the use of qualified professionals and the implementation of mitigation plans if resources are discovered. The project also involves managing hazardous materials such as petroleum-based fuels and lubricants. Goutam Dobey, the City Engineer, serves as the primary point of contact for the effort.
