The FAA is seeking a contractor to perform a Removal Action at Building 101 near Yakutat Airport, Alaska, involving the excavation and disposal of up to 800 tons of petroleum-contaminated soil that exceed cleanup standards. Contaminated soils are primarily found between 4 to 8 feet below ground, with some extending to the surface and down to 10 feet, in an area complicated by existing utilities such as telephone, power, and fiber optic lines. Groundwater is present at approximately 5 to 6 feet below ground, requiring careful soil moisture management during excavation to prevent water accumulation in waste containers. The site includes a 6,500 square foot laydown/pad area with several semi-mobile trailers and temporary utilities that must be removed and replaced as part of the project restoration. The work is scheduled for July or August 2026, timed for seasonal low water levels. This contract is a total small business set-aside under NAICS code 562910, handled by the Department of Transportation’s Regional Acquisitions Services office in Fort Worth, Texas.
