The contractor is responsible for selecting and truck hauling sand from an approved upland source that meets all project specifications. This project will renourish 5.1 miles of critically eroded shoreline immediately south of Hillsboro Inlet or between Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Range Monuments R-26 to R-53. The project beach has a maximum berm elevation of +8.4 feet, NAVD88, and a minimum berm elevation no less than +7.4 feet, NAVD88. The width of the restored beach is controlled between the pre-project mean high water (MHW) shoreline and the Erosion Control Line (ECL). Because of extensive hard bottom areas offshore of the project, fill placement seaward of the MHW shall not occur. The sand source for the project will be an upland source. Material will be truck hauled to the disposal location. The upland source will be selected by the Contractor meeting criteria required in the specifications. Project work also includes endangered species and vibration monitoring.

Notice of Intent to solicit a single source – Fish and Macroinvertebrate (Nekton) Monitoring (St. Johns River)
Solicitation # W912EP-27-Q-1CTH
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, intends to award a sole-source contract to the Fish and Wildlife Research Institute of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. The project focuses on nekton monitoring within selected zones and tributaries of the Lower St. Johns River in Northeast Florida. This effort is categorized under NAICS code 541620 for Environmental Consulting Services and is designed to assess the ecological impacts of a 2022 channel deepening project that increased the river depth to 47 feet to accommodate larger vessels for the Jacksonville Port Authority. The primary objective is to evaluate how changes in salinity and water quality resulting from the deepening affect the spawning, recruitment, and population dynamics of commercially and recreationally important species, such as blue crab, white shrimp, and red drum. Monitoring will specifically target critical habitats between river kilometers 14 and 48, as well as areas upstream of Julington Creek, to determine if shifting salinity gradients are impacting nursery habitats or resident freshwater species. This long-term sampling will provide the necessary data to gauge the overall environmental effects of the channel modifications on the estuary's nekton assemblages.
