The contract involves a comprehensive renovation project for shower and plumbing facilities at the U.S. Penitentiary within the Federal Correctional Complex in Lompoc, California. The scope includes demolishing twelve two-man shower banks in specified housing units, replacing floors and shower pans, and installing durable stainless steel panels on walls and ceilings along with new corner-mounted stainless steel shower units. The project requires updating all showers with water-resistant lighting and dedicated exhaust systems using low-profile ducting within plumbing chases. Out of all showers, several will be modified to be accessible, featuring grab bars, combination handicapped/regular adjustable shower units, and retractable benches to comply with accessibility standards. Plumbing upgrades include removing and replacing existing black iron drain waste lines with schedule 80 ABS piping, running water supply lines with hard copper pipes, insulating hot water lines, and installing water-saving valves including temperature-regulating valves to prevent scalding and low-flow shower heads. Clean-outs will be added for maintenance access, and all work must adhere to applicable codes and standards such as UFAS, NFPA, UPC, NEC, and other local, state, and federal regulations. The solicitation is open for bidding by all business concerns under NAICS code 23511, with bids to be submitted by the specified deadline and all procurement details and updates provided exclusively through the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities website.
