The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), in coordination with the California Department of Technology, proposes to construct two middle-mile broadband network hub shelters to provide transmission and amplification of broadband signals. Hub Shelter #34 is located on State Route 4 at post mile (PM) R7.35 in Calaveras County. Hub #128 is located on State Route 49 at PM 45.13, and Hub #129 is located at PM 11.90, both in Mariposa County. Hub #187 is located on State Route 88 at PM R19.18 in San Joaquin County. The purpose of building repeater hub shelters is aimed to help broadband providers connect the fiber optic network backbone to deliver enhanced broadband communications and Internet to commercial and residential users
