The President of the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), Gulf Coast Chapter, in collaboration with the Program Executive Officer for Weapons and Commander of the Air Armament Center at Eglin AFB, is organizing the 34th Air Armament Symposium to be held on October 7-8, 2008, at the Emerald Coast Conference Center in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. A key feature of this event is an Industry Panel focused on system engineering practices for successful weapon system development and production. This panel aims to bring together AAC's system and subsystem industry partners to discuss and recommend improvements in engineering and manufacturing processes that enhance the reliability, performance, and producibility of air-launched weapon systems. The panel is part of an ongoing Air Force Materiel Command initiative to improve acquisition processes, including reliability, manufacturing, and safety aspects. The Industry Panel will conduct bi-weekly meetings starting with an initial planning meeting on February 27, 2008, at the Sheraton Four Points in Fort Walton Beach. The panel will deliver an interim report by May 15, 2008, a final report by September 3, 2008, and will present its full findings during the symposium. Industry partners interested in participating are encouraged to submit their point of contact information and any questions to the designated facilitators. Inquiries and coordination for meeting attendance and symposium details are managed by specific contacts at NDIA and Eglin AFB. This collaborative effort seeks to leverage industry expertise to yield practical recommendations for enhancing weapon system development and production processes.
