12KV Extension Laguna Springs-Sirroco Project

Sacramento Municipal Utility District is advancing the 12KV Extension Laguna Springs-Sirroco Project to install approximately 350 feet of new 12kV utility cable beneath Laguna Creek in Elk Grove, California, using Horizontal Directional Drilling to minimize surface disruption and avoid sensitive riparian habitats. The HDD bore will pass under the creek with four conduits—two 6-inch and two 4-inch—pulled through a single bore path, with sending and receiving pits located entirely within upland urban land use areas, more than 40 and 200 feet respectively from the creek’s water edge. All drilling will occur at a minimum depth of 60 inches below ground and at least 10 feet below the creek bed to ensure environmental protection, and all equipment and staging will remain strictly confined to upland zones without encroaching on the creek’s banks.
