12KV Extension Laguna Springs-Sirroco Project

The Sacramento Municipal Utility District is implementing the 12KV Extension Laguna Springs-Sirroco Project, identified by solicitation number 30192208. Located in a commercial area near the intersection of Laguna Springs Drive and Longleaf Drive in Elk Grove, California, the project involves the installation of approximately 350 feet of new 12kV utility cable. To minimize environmental impact and avoid surface disturbance in sensitive habitats, the project will utilize Horizontal Directional Drilling to install two 6-inch and two 4-inch conduits. The process includes drilling a pilot hole and enlarging it to a 16-inch diameter, with all activities maintained at a minimum depth of 60 inches below the ground surface and at least 10 feet below the bed, bank, and channel of Laguna Creek. Additionally, a 6 by 8 foot pull box will be installed in one of the bore pits for future maintenance. The project is categorized as a forecast with a NAICS code of 237130 and is expected to be completed by June 2026. All equipment and staging will be restricted to urban upland habitats to prevent encroachment upon the creek banks. Execution of the work is contingent upon obtaining a Streambed Alteration Agreement from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and the actual construction phase is anticipated to take no longer than five days. The project has been filed with a Notice of Exemption under CEQA Guidelines for small utility extensions and minor land alterations.
