Full Description

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) proposes various improvements within the California Department of Transportations (Caltrans) right of way along State Route 36 in Shasta County from post mile (PM) 7.38 to 8.81 near Platina as part of their Undergrounding and Wildfire System Hardening Program. These improvements would include the following: Civil scope is hybrid: Comprised of approximately 3,385 linear feet of horizontal direction drilling (HDD) and approximately 457 linear feet of open trench. One span of OH conductor to be installed over State Route 36. There are approximately 5 subsurface boxes to be installed. Scope of work includes a conduit bridge attachment on the Cottonwood bridge. Vegetation Scope of Work: There are 14 vegetation points (57 total units) proposed for vegetation work. There are 7 brush removal points (50 units), 2 tree trim points (2 units) and 1 wood management point to removal a fallen tree (1 unit) located inside Caltrans right of way and the remaining 4 points (4 units) are located outside Caltrans right of way but the crew will use the highway to access them. Traffic control will be provided while performing the work. The shoulder and/or lane closure will be taken in accordance with Caltrans standard traffic control plan T-13. Subject to change per site condition and pre-construction meetings. Rolling Traffic Breaks will be coordinated with help from the local CHP prior to pre-construction meeting with Caltrans' local inspector.
