The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) seeks to procure two additional Magnetic Sensor Assemblies from Cummins-Allison Corporation, located in Carlsbad, California. These assemblies are a critical component used in the bureau's Universal Magnetic Detection System, primarily for counterfeit detection. This purchase follows an earlier contract where Cummins-Allison provided two test units, indicating a continuation of the established relationship and reliance on the same supplier. The acquisition is planned as a sole-source procurement under FAR 6.302-1 authority, meaning the government will negotiate exclusively with Cummins-Allison due to the unique nature of the goods or the supplier’s exclusive capacity. The procurement will be conducted in accordance with simplified acquisition procedures under FAR Part 13.106-3, and the total value of the purchase order will not exceed the simplified acquisition threshold. The solicitation was issued under RFQ-05-0126 with a NAICS code of 335999. The designated point of contact for this procurement is Mr. Frank B. O’Donnell, who oversees communications related to this acquisition. This streamlined procurement approach reflects the need for continuity and efficiency in acquiring specialized equipment vital for currency security operations.
