The Naval Sea Systems Command plans to award a Firm Fixed Price contract for the purchase of thirteen AN/BSG-1 Weapon Launching Systems along with pre-cable kits and spares intended for SSN 774, SSN688, and SSN688I class submarines. This procurement represents a one-time acquisition aimed at meeting the Navy’s inventory objective for the AN/BSG-1, a critical fire control system used for launching UGM-109A Tomahawk missiles. The contract will be awarded on a sole source basis to Raytheon Company, Integrated Defense Systems, located in Portsmouth, RI, due to Raytheon's unique position as the original developer of the AN/BSG-1 system and its proprietary access to the baseline technical data package. Raytheon’s status as the prime item developer enables it to deliver this requirement efficiently without the need for additional start-up time, avoiding redundant costs related to facility establishment or design replication. The production hardware will be manufactured using prototype products, processes, and methodologies developed under a previous contract awarded competitively in 1997. Raytheon is expected to continue leveraging this prior work to deliver the production systems. Opportunities for subcontracting may be available, and interested companies are encouraged to contact Raytheon directly for more information.

Raytheon, as the prime item developer of the AN/BSG-1, has the unique capability of providing this requirement without substantial start up/learning curve time or the duplicative costs of establishing facilities or different design implementations as well as access to the data which forms the baseline technical data package. Raytheon will use the prototype products , processes and methodologies developed under contract N00024-97-C-6240, which it was competitively awarded in 1997, to manufacture the AN/BSG-1 production hardware.
