AI Contract Overview

The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, intends to procure Gigabit Ethernet Data Multiplex Systems (GEDMS) through a split award to The Boeing Company and DRS EW and Network Systems, Inc. This acquisition is limited to these two sources because they are the only qualified manufacturers capable of meeting the specific build-to-print design requirements, and the cost of qualifying new vendors is considered prohibitive. The GEDMS is a mission-critical system that must comply with NAVSEA system specifications DMS 500.7 and GEDMS 300.0. The solicitation for this project was scheduled for release on December 7, 2007, with a closing date of January 22, 2008, and an estimated award date of February 28, 2008. While the system incorporates some performance-based commercial-off-the-shelf components, it is not a standard COTS design. Entities seeking subcontracting opportunities are directed to contact Boeing and DRS directly.
