It is the intention of the City of San Antonio (City) Police Department (SAPD) to contract with a qualified company to provide pre-employment polygraph examination services for the screening of applicants for entry-level uniformed positions with the City to include San Antonio Park Police and San Antonio Airport Police. The polygraph examination will cover general information about the candidate to include, but not be limited to employment history, prior police history, military service, criminal activity, illegal drug usage, employment theft, financial concerns, gambling issues, internet use, drinking habits and incidents of domestic violence. SAPD will require follow-up polygraph examinations of applicants if the City has unresolved concerns in any one (1) or more of the above mentioned areas. In addition, polygraph examination services will be provided to the Professional Standards Section (e.g., Internal Affairs) when requested by SAPD.
