The contract action proposes the acquisition of two Vizual Horizon Phacoemulsification Systems along with their necessary attachments and components, intended for use by Army surgeons during the Beyond the Horizons 2009 exercise. This procurement is planned to be awarded on a sole-source basis under FAR 6.302, given that the surgical teams at Walter Reed and Madigan Army Hospitals are already trained and familiar with the Vizual Horizon brand, and these hospitals have previously provided similar equipment for the exercise. The procurement falls under NAICS code 339115 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. While this notice does not solicit competitive proposals, any interested contractors who believe they can meet the requirements and provide proof of capability are encouraged to submit their responses via email or fax to the designated contact, Mary Sue Austin, by the specified deadline of April 30, 2009. The government retains complete discretion over whether to proceed with a competitive process based on the information received. This process is managed by the Department of Defense with the contract office located in Fort Sam Houston, Texas.
