AI Contract Overview
The Department of Veterans Affairs, through VISN 10’s Detroit VA Medical Center, intends to award a sole-source, firm-fixed price contract to Diasorin Molecular LLC for the procurement of one Diasorin Liaison MDX/Integrated Cycler (Part Number: MOL1001, 110V), identified under NAICS code 339112. This acquisition is necessary because the specified equipment is the only FDA-cleared clinical diagnostic system capable of detecting Candida auris using PCR technology, meeting both VHA Directive 1131 and CDC surveillance guidelines. The device enables direct swab testing with minimal sample preparation, reduces the need for repeat tests, limits outbreak-related bed closures, and delivers immediate, reportable results that integrate directly into electronic medical records with minimal documentation burden. Diasorin Molecular LLC is the sole vendor authorized to provide the exact equipment, along with required installation, service support, and warranty compliance, ensuring operational readiness and regulatory adherence. No competitive solicitation is being issued; this notice serves solely to notify the public of the government’s intent to negotiate exclusively with this vendor. Responses challenging the sole-source determination must provide clear and convincing evidence that competition would benefit the government and must be submitted by 4:00 p.m. EST on June 15, 2026, to the designated contracting personnel. The equipment will be delivered and installed at the Detroit VA Medical Center, with contract administration handled by the Network Contracting Office 10 in Indianapolis, IN, under the oversight of Contract Specialist Natalie Harris and Contracting Officer Kellie Konopinski. No pricing data, delivery schedule, packaging requirements, or formal contract clauses are detailed in the notice, as the focus remains on justifying the non-competitive procurement based on technical exclusivity and clinical necessity.
