The Department of Veterans Affairs Great Lake Acquisition Center plans to purchase a brand name detachable cable for Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) procedures exclusively from Olympus America, Inc. This procurement is conducted under the authorities of 40 U.S.C. 501 and 41 U.S.C. 251, following Federal Acquisition Regulation 8.405-6, indicating that only one responsible source can fulfill the agency’s needs. The contract will be a firm fixed price delivery order referencing the existing GSA/FSS contract held by Olympus America, Inc., which covers the specific ultrasound processor and accessories needed. This sole source acquisition confirms that no other supplies or services will meet the requirements. Although this notice does not request competitive quotes and no solicitation documents are available, interested firms that believe they can meet the requirements had the opportunity to submit product and service information along with customer references by September 2, 2022. Submissions were to be emailed only to the designated Contract Specialist, with telephonic inquiries disallowed. The government retains sole discretion whether to proceed with competition based on responses received, but if none were submitted, the contract would proceed solely with Olympus America. The contracting office overseeing this action is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with Jennifer Mead serving as the Contract Specialist point of contact.
