The James H. Quillen VA Medical Center is seeking to procure one Advanced Instruments Osmo1 Single-Sample Micro-Osmometer as a replacement for their current outdated device used in clinical laboratory settings. This device is essential for measuring osmolality in various body fluids such as serum, urine, and plasma, which supports patient care by evaluating electrolyte and water balance, toxic alcohol ingestion, and other urgent clinical conditions. The new osmometer is required to meet Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) and College of American Pathologists (CAP) standards, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and faster turnaround times to accommodate current and increasing testing volumes. This procurement is a brand name, no-substitute purchase, emphasizing the need for this specific osmometer to maintain high-quality laboratory operations.
