Full Description

The U.S. Geological Survey intends to make a non-competitive purchase order to Huntsville Utilities located Huntsville AL for high-resolution, leaf-off, color, digital, orthoimagery collected in the winter of 2012 for Madison (763 sq. mi.) county and a portion of Marshall (39 sq. mi.) county, and Redstone Arsenal (56 sq. mi.) in the northern part of Alabama, including the high-priority Huntsville urban area, under the generation of the Huntsville Unilities and Madison County, Alabama GIS Consortium Aerial Photography Program for one year from the date of award. There are no option periods. The Huntsville Utilities serves as the authorized and recognized Geographic Information System (GIS) coordinating entity for the County of Madison, Alabama. The Huntsville Utilities was designated as the coordinating body in response to the critical need for coordination in the development and use of digital spatial data. The Madison County, Alabama GIS Consortium through the Huntsville Utilities encourages GIS activities that enhance the development and use of reliable digital spatial data through communication, coordination and collaboration. The Madison County, Alabama GIS Consortium, through Huntsville Utilities, coordinates state initiatives with federal and local government efforts. USGS partnership for Madison County imagery with The Huntsville Utilities, as the authorized coordination body at the state level, is supported under guidance pursuant to OMB circular A-16; HO 12906 ''Coordination of Geographic Information and Related Spatial Data Activities" and under policy guidance from the Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) (o promote coordinated development, use, sharing, and dissemination of geospatial data on a national basis as part of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
