The Bureau of Land Management’s Wildland Fire Service in Wyoming is planning to procure various communication equipment exclusively from BK Technologies Inc. This acquisition includes a range of radios, antennas, batteries, programming cables, and related accessories primarily within the BKR5000 and KNG Series product lines, incorporating advanced features such as Bluetooth, GPS, and P25 digital trunking capability. The purchase encompasses 25 portable radios, mobile radios, base stations, and supporting hardware like power adapters, remote microphones, cloning adapters, and security keys. Extended warranties are also included for many radios, reflecting a comprehensive lifecycle replacement effort to enhance communication capabilities for fire management operations. The procurement is being conducted under a sole-source justification in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, as BK Technologies is deemed the only responsible source capable of meeting the specific technical requirements. The estimated contract value is approximately $186,615. While this is not a competitive solicitation, the government invites other suppliers to submit written evidence by June 30, 2026, if they believe they can fulfill the requirement at a competitive cost. If no viable alternatives are identified, the award will proceed solely with BK Technologies. The contract details, point of contact, and justification documentation are made available to ensure transparency and compliance with federal acquisition regulations.
