The General Services Administration (GSA) is conducting a second public meeting to discuss its proposed reorganization plan that consolidates the Federal Technology Service (FTS) and Federal Supply Service (FSS) into a single Federal Acquisition Service (FAS). This initiative aims to improve GSA’s performance by streamlining operations, enhancing acquisition processes for industry contractors, and strengthening administrative support functions. The reorganization is intended to better meet increasing customer demands and facilitate clearer interaction between the government and industry stakeholders. Administrator Stephen A. Perry highlighted the importance of periodic organizational reviews to achieve continuous improvement and operational excellence. The public meeting is scheduled for June 13, 2005, at GSA Headquarters in Washington, DC, with opportunities for industry participants to provide their input based on a draft reorganization plan. While this meeting is designed to foster open dialogue, it is not a solicitation for proposals nor expected to yield a consensus. Participants interested in presenting must submit their presentations by June 8, 2005, and are encouraged to limit oral remarks to five minutes. The meeting format and presenter selection will depend on response volume and relevance. Additional outreach efforts are ongoing to gather broad feedback from GSA associates and customers, with accommodations available for persons with disabilities. Contact information and submission instructions are provided for those wishing to engage in the process.
