The Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) has developed a process called Focused Long Term Challenges (FLTC) as part of its efforts to guide Science & Technology investments aligned with the Air Force S&T Vision—encompassing capabilities to anticipate, find, fix, track, target, engage, and assess threats at any time and place. This initiative has led to the creation of an integrated plan detailing eight Focused Long Term Challenges, associated problem statements, technology challenges, and related products. While initial information does not yet include detailed attribute or product roadmaps, these are expected to be released around February or March 2007. Access to the FLTC products is restricted to U.S. contractors, requiring companies to submit specific government forms and justification letters outlining the need for access. This solicitation does not constitute a request for proposals and responding is voluntary without affecting future acquisition opportunities. The AFRL office managing this effort is located at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Interested parties must provide documentation such as DD Form 2345 for company clearance and individual forms including DD Form 2875, AFMC Form 97, or Visit Requests with security information, along with a justification letter for each person needing access. Contact points are provided for further inquiries. The program aims to facilitate collaboration and insight into long-range technological challenges critical to maintaining and advancing Air Force capabilities.
