The National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) plans to negotiate a sole source contract modification with EMMES Corporation to increase the scope of work under an existing contract originally awarded as a small business set-aside. The current contract, running from June 29, 2001, through June 28, 2008, supports data coordination, analysis, and clinical trial support activities for infectious disease studies. The proposed modification aims to expand these services specifically to accommodate a significant rise in avian and pandemic influenza clinical trials within the Division of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, necessitating additional staffing and resources to meet intensified clinical trial demands. This action is authorized under the unique capabilities clause allowing sole source negotiations with EMMES Corporation, acknowledging their specialized experience and the need to avoid disruption or duplication of work. Prospective offerors who believe they can fulfill the requirements without interruption or undue cost duplication are invited to submit capability statements by the specified deadline as outlined in the solicitation. The contracting officer for this procurement is Ross Kelley, reachable via email or phone for inquiries. The contract continues to emphasize the importance of uninterrupted support during the expansion of influenza-related research activities.
