Natural Resources Canada requires an annual subscription to GeoScienceWorld (GSW), a collaboration of organizations in the geosciences that incorporates the full text of 54 major geoscience journals from 34 societies and institutes from around the world.
NRCan requires the supplier to provide the following product, services and features:
1. GeoScienceWorld –List of individual journals and years available at https://pubs.geoscienceworld.org/DocumentLibrary/Journal%20Title%20List/GSW-Journal-Title-List-2024.xlsx
2. Bibliographic records with embedded GeoRef metadata (e.g., longitude/latitude, index terms/descriptors).
3. Bibliographic Software – the ability to export citations to reference management software (e.g., Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote).
4. Alerts – the ability to provide users with search and/or new issue alerts.
5. Search functionalities – ability to provide a variety of search capabilities such as the following examples: browse journal issues, facets, bounding coordinates search.
6. Account support - ability to provide monthly usage statistics in COUNTER 5 format.
7. Technical support - Telephone and email assistance with technical problems during normal working hours at all sites across Canada.
8. Training - the ability to provide online training across Canada to all relevant NRCan Library sites.
